Hey guys!! Got back from VCF East yesterday, and had such an amazing time!!! Saw some amazing computers (my favorite of which was the Osborn Executive, was so cool to be able to play around with one!!!), and left with some cool stuff!! Specifically, I got a Macbook pro from 2012, and an awesome thinkpad x201 (in fantastic condition!!!). I pretty much immediately setup debian on the thinkpad, and ubuntu on the macbook, although I quickly learned that this particular macbook was gonna be a bit more of an asshole than most computers I work with. After dozens of attempts at getting wifi to work on several different distros, I finally decided to try out Ubuntu 24.04 LTS beta, and it works right out of the box perfectly!!! I can also say holy shit, Ubuntu 24.04 is REALLY good. I'm a big fan of the new version of Gnome, and the specific changes that Ubuntu makes to Gnome look absolutely beautiful. the Snap store is also WAY better, which is nice!!! I'm gonna keep working with it for a bit, and see if I may actually start recommending Ubuntu above Mint as a first linux distro! We'll see how it goes, but I'm a big fan so far!!
Not much else to say beyond that, am feeling really good about the computers I got, and had such an amazing time!!! It was really awesome hanging out with my bf and his dad playing with old computers, and meeting some amazing people!!!
