Hello all! Been a few days since my last update, and with this update comes more news about the site! Recently I've been replaying the game "Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag", and have found myself ranting to my boyfriend incessently about the ways in which the game was almost a masterpiece, but was held back by the fact that it was within the AC series. All of this ranting and raving made me realize that Assassin's Creed would make for a great review series for my blog, since I have a long history with the series dating back to Assassin's Creed 2, with perhaps only the Elder Scrolls series having as much or more of an impact on me in my formative years. So, in the coming months I'll be replaying the Assassin's Creed games (that I own or can easily acquire at the point where I am ready for the review process to begin), and giving my in-depth thoughts about each game. These reviews won't be playthroughs or guides, in fact much of the actual content of the game will only be referenced in relation to arguments about each games, with a minimal amount of time spent establishing information relating to the series. As such, I will be writing each post with a fan of the series in mind, although I will provide some context for each argument so a non-fan can at least get something out of each post. I hope you enjoy them once they are released!
on a related note, I also have plans for writing up a few important documents for my opinions section. First and foremost, I want to revise a document I wrote a few years back where I summarized my fundamental philosophical positions to better communicate my ideas to a friend of mine who was interested. Once I do that, I will be posting that revised document on this blog in the Opinions section as an introduction to the foundations of my beliefs. The goal of this would be to allow someone to make (hopefully) good predictions about what my opinions on any given issue might be, that way it would be easy to criticize my ideas from a informed position as to where my ideas should come from. As such, I welcome people to critique my ideas or claims, as I can't improve if the only person I listen to is myself. I expect to upload this document before I upload my first review in the Assassin's Creed series of posts, as I need to replay Assassin's Creed 1, probably more than once, before I can properly comment on it, and the opinion post will likely just be an editted version of the previous document I've already written. With all that house-keeping out of the way, onto life updates!
I spent yesterday with my boyfriend's family celebrating Easter with a nice breakfast and dinner, along with far too much Candy. Apart from having a stomach ache after eating all those sweets, it was a lot of fun! Seeing the in-laws is always a pleasure for me, since they're genuinely great people, and very fun to be around! Not only that, since my boyfriend is "of considerable means", almost every time we visit with his family, we come home with all sorts of hand-me-down goodies that are well beyond what I could afford on my own, such as the monitor I'm using as I type this!!!!! Its an Acer B226HQL, and is a substantial upgrade from my previous monitor, which is now being used as the replacement for the fairly shit monitor that my boyfriend used as his second display (him being a coder and all he sure does like having lots of programming stuffs open all over the place, gotta look like a hacker from the matrix at all times). In addition to the monitor (thank you so much boyfriend's mom!!!!!!) we were also given a slow cooker, a new floor lamp, a spoon holder (whatever that is), and tons of aforementioned candy. Although I've spent much of this life update section talking about all the cool stuff that the in-laws consistently give me and my boyfriend, I don't want to diminish how much I enjoy their company. They often feel like more family to me than my birth family, and certainly extend much greater kindness to me. I'm very grateful for all they do for me and my boyfriend, and if they ever happen across this, thank you so much for being the best damn in-laws I think anyone has ever had (considering the stereotypes, especially).
With all that said, I hope that you, whoever you are, wherever you are, and whenever you are, are happy :)
