Hi all who are reading! Continuing the daily updates thing, here's my daily update! Having a very good day so far! Set up our first ever 4K TV with my boyfriend, which was fun and crazy impressive in respect to sharpness!! Definitely crazy going back to my set up that I have upstairs next to my gaming and work PC (picture included at the end of this post, and apologies in advance for how messy my desk is, lol), since both the monitors that are on my desk are well below 4K. The panel that I do my work on is a cheap monitor that I got at a thrift store, and is 1280x1024, while my monitor for the gaming computer is 1920x1080, and I got hand-me-down from my boyfriend. The image is so much less sharp, and the color accuracy too is sub-par compared to the new TV that we got. Its very strange having so much wealth compared to what I had growing up. For context, as a kid my family was lower class by East Coast United States standards, which before created a bit of a culture shock when I started dating my boyfriend, since he grew up upperclass. And now with his income post-undergrad, I am living that upper class lifestyle, which is bizarre. Although I would be middle class on my own with my post-undergrad income, making me still far beyond the means I had growing up, I still get to live much more comfortably than I would if I wasn't double income, no kids with a high earning programmer, and all that is strange to me. I still have a lot of the same habits that I had as a kid in a household with food insecurity, like fear of waste, as well as a constant fear that something is going to come up and we will lose everything. I hope living comfortably for longer will help me feel more secure in my current financial conditions.
Beyond all that, I haven't been up to much today. Had left overs for breakfast a few hours ago, and played a little video games on the new TV, namely super mario bros 3, which I thought would be a funny choice for such a fancy high-res screen. The mini PC that we use as an entertainment center that I set up back in the old place we used to live in also works well enough, although I can tell that the low-powered ryzen CPU that's in the pc is definitely being strained by the higher resolution. That being said, its good enough for the entertainment center purposes, and I'm not pressed on upgrading for the time being.
In other news, the early 2015 Macbook air that I got and put ubuntu on is still working fantastically! I definitely am happy to be rid of the windows machine I was using. It hasn't been long since I got it, but I can definitely say that, next to buying an old thinkpad and putting a distro of linux on it, this is one of the best ways of getting a sub-hundred dollar lappy for linux-based computering!
That'll be all for this update, thanks so much for reading if you did! Much love from me and mine!!!
